Misto Brushed Aluminum Oil Sprayer

  • MISTO is a reusable oil spray and mister bottle that gives you the convenience and health benefits of typical aerosol sprayers but in a more healthy, economical and environmental way
  • Fill MISTO with your favorite oils, vinegars, lemon and lime juice, sherry, or marsala wine. Great for dressing salads, breads, or cooking
  • Easy-to-use pump style cap features a 2-step operation: simply pump the container, then and press the valve on the pressurized sprayer for an even mist
  • Environmentally friendly, the non-aerosol sprayer doesn't use chemical propellants, and it's refillable, so no more throwing cans away to end up in landfills
  • MISTO is BPA-free - threading the cap on incorrectly allows air to escape and in turn does not allow the bottle to build up pressure to spray

What did I do before I found this thing? Oh, I remember, splash olive oil all over my vegetables to be roasted, and follow that with splashes of vinegar...now, I have one Misto with garlic infused avocado oil and another with vinegar that has been soaking up Rosemary & Thyme. ( I also have one with my olive oil of choice, that I use to spray on my bread.) I not only use this for my roasted veggies but on my salads and proteins of all kinds. Now that they come in different colors it would be easier to have more than one. Don't fill more than half way and the pump spray takes getting used to but, it's a beautiful thing! Everyone should have one of these!

I've used these for many years for everything from cooking oil to soy sauce and they work great. You just have to know a couple of tricks. First after filling the bottle halfway and screwing on the sprayer, put a couple of drops of oil into the area that the part of the pump that's attached to the cap will fit into. That will give you a nice airtight fit. You only have to do this the first time and after any good cleaning. Another trick is to epoxy the part of the pump that fits into the cap. I find that the two come apart fairly easily and some good ol' JB Weld will keep them together for good! Most importantly, they need to be kept clean. If the sprayer starts acting up just wash out the canister with soapy water, give it a good rinse and refill it with soapy water. Reassemble it, pump it up and spray it until it stops. Let it sit on its side overnight and repeat until the sprayer works as it should. Let it dry overnight, refill it with oil, pump it up and spray out enough oil to make sure there's no soapy water left in the tube. Don't forget to repeat the first trick. And never use them with flavored oils unless you run the oils through a coffee filter first.

I bought this on a whim for my wife seeing as how she uses a lot of olive oil in her cooking. I thought at worst I'm out a couple bucks. Now I won't say the Misto has changed our lives but it's amazing how much she's used it since I bought it for her. The biggest use so far has been when making pancakes. Before my wife would drizzle some olive oil on a paper towel and run it across the griddle before pouring the pancakes. Inevitably she'd end up burning herself on the hot griddle. Now she just sprays down a little oil with the Misto and she's good to go. No more burns and we're using a lot less olive oil. It's also made paninis on the panini press much better.

I love this for spraying a very light coating on everyday salads and caprese salad. Also when I make no knead bread (sourdough and instant yeast) I oil the bowl slightly then place the dough in the bowl for the bulk ferment.. and using the sprayer gives me a perfect mist of oil on the sides and bottom of bowl (see two photos for the light spray pattern)! Do follow instructions.. do not fill over half full. I rinsed with water prior to filling with oil for the first time use (can't remember if someone recommended this or it was in the instructions). Highly recommend. I paid full price for this item.

I tried a few different oil sprayers, and love this one, depending on the use. The good: it really sprays a mist like an aerosol would. The not so good : You can only fill it half way with oil so theres space for the air. You have to keep pumping air pressure, so sometimes, it's just easier to use a regular pump mister, which doesn't achieve the fine mist of the misto, but is always ready to use with a single pump. Also, I once had an issue where it totally stopped working, only sprayed a narrow stream, and basic cleaning didn't help. I finally took it all apart and did a thorough cleaning, and it worked like new again. so you have to be careful, probably to net get oil in the wrong place on the mechanical parts. And cleaning can be a little complicated. But since then, I've been careful refilling it and using it, and has not clogged again,

This might be the coolest thing I have in my kitchen. For the price of a can of PAM, I have a refillable oil sprayer. I’ve had this for a while now and we use it to spray the pans when cooking, we spray the veggies before we roast them. There are so many uses that you wouldn’t normally use PAM for that you can with this since it is just oil and air in the can. Pump it really good or the spray will be a stream. It should be hard to pump when it’s ready to use. Cons: The top does not go all the way down when it is stored. It stays up a little. The can doesn’t stay pressurized when it sits in the cabinet. You have to pump it every time you pull it out for the first time each day.

Install Flash Player There are a fair number of reviews of this and similar items complaining that they only spit out a stream of oil. In my experience that is because people fill the bottle to the top with oil, which leaves no room for pumped-in air to compress and provide pressure to drive the oil through the spray nozzle. This manufacturer has taken the step of printing "Only Fill Half Way" on the collar so you can't miss it. If you look at my video you will see that this does an excellent job atomizing the oil, perfect for giving something a nice light even spray of oil. One of my favorite uses is to slice up potatoes into fries, put them on a cookie sheet and give them a light even spray of oil on all sides. Bake them until they're nice and golden. They taste great with A LOT LESS oil/fat/calories. The aluminum is not very thick, maybe four times the thickness of a soda can, but it is enough to make this rigid and work well. I am very pleased with the way it sprays. Great bang for the buck! I recommend it without reservation.

Omg I had never seen one of these used until I bought one out of curiosity. It is fantastic. Currently I am filling it with water and using it to mist my bread while it’s baking ( for an extra rustic crust). However I will definitely buy another one for olive oil. It will work super for oiling my pans and seasoning my food etc. Warning, this device requires repetitive pumping to create the misting action... not too strenuous but a bit of a surprise to the spoiled like me.

I love this little mister. It might be my favorite and most-used kitchen gadget. I use it every day, and after 7 years, it has never let me down. Those who complain that it dribbles and clogs aren't using it correctly, and using it correctly does not take much in the way of effort; you just have to know how. Here's how to use and care for your Misto so it always works beautifully for you: 1) Don't fill it to the top. The Misto needs air space in order to build up enough pressure to spray properly. It operates best at 1/3-1/2 full, but it will continue to mist even as your oil runs out. 2) Each time you use it, pump it 10-15 times. If you have ever used a bicycle pump, you know what it should feel like. When you get resistance, the pressure has built up, and it's ready to go. 3) Spray at an angle to your pan (or salad, or whatever surface you are spraying onto). If you turn it too horizontal, it can clog. 4) Each time you finish using it, open the plastic ring on the top of the canister to release the pressure. This will keep the spray nozzle and tubing from clogging. 5) Wash as instructed. Before the oil on the inside of the Misto becomes stale, wash it in warm, soapy water. Screw the top on and give it a shake. Change the water, add only a bit of soap, and fill it as you would with oil. Pump and spray so that the soapy water passes through the tubing and spray nozzle. Do this again with clean water until the spray seems clear and clean. Do not put the Misto in a dishwasher. You can also gently scrub the inside of the canister with a soft bottle brush. Rinse all parts well and allow to dry on a dish-drying rack. I don't actually wash mine all that frequently, and it functions just fine. Also, I use only olive oil in mine. I imagine it's possible that heavier oils can clog it. For instance, I wouldn't use coconut oil in it, because coconut oil is solid at room temperature. If you follow these instructions, you should find that your Misto performs beautifully and lasts for years.
